Starting on September 21st, the Santa Fe Mentoring and Tutoring Collaborative (SFMT) began hosting weekly, Thursday night workshops with Kathryn Ugoretz. Kathryn has been an educator for 26 years and she specializes in reading, writing, and executive function. She has created this workshop series specifically to fit SFMT’s needs.
The first session was on improving learning behaviors. Attendees learned more on how we learn both inside and outside of the classroom and how to encourage positive learning. For the second session Kathryn talked about improving focus, with attention on improving student focus and addressing attention difficulties. Upcoming lessons will be: Fostering Learning Breakthroughs and Strengthening the Mentor Connection.
Participants have been giving the sessions positive reviews when surveyed. Additionally, the surveys found that during the lessons the participants are highly engaged and focused. SFMT hopes to hold more sessions in the future.
